Overview
Harpies are a noble and fragile species, yet with a primal, aggressive side. They excel at
Alchemy and enjoy
Tailoring.
Their Starting Ability is to bring 50
Coats. Harpies have a base Resolve of 5, with a Break interval of 01:40 minutes. Their Resilience is listed as Low, and their Demand is at 15. With a Decadence level of 3 and a Hunger Tolerance of 4, Harpies are easy to leave and make for a demanding yet rewarding species.
Consumption and Satisfaction
Like all species, Harpies need to fulfill Complex Needs to start generating Reputation. The more Complex Needs you fulfill, the higher their Resolve will go, up to a maximum of 50. With the exception of the Housing Needs, every need fulfilled grants an additional effect, like Paste's increased double production chance. With a Break interval of 1:40, Harpies may require noticeably more goods to keep their Resolve up, depending on the type of work they are assigned to.
Needs overlap
The table[1] below lists the needs
Harpies share with other species:

Harpy-specific buildings
These buildings appear as Reputation rewards only when Harpies are on the map. They can still spawn as Ruins.

Strategy
- The 50
Coats starting bonus can easily be squandered without any benefit without careful use of Consumption Control. Be sure to only allow Harpies and other species who desire Coats to wear them when doing so can prevent them from leaving during the Storm or allow them to reach their Reputation generation threshold. - With an initial Demand of 15 and only 3 Decadence, Harpies are the best species for long term Reputation generation. It's often better to choose Blueprints that cater towards Harpies' needs while doing the bare minimum for species that are difficult to please.
- Unlike Lizards and Foxes, who have built-in characteristics that help them weather the Storm, Harpies have a rare Comfort specialization, Low Resilience, and no immunity to Hostility, so careful management of their Resolve through fulfilling Clothing needs, ensuring they are housed, and use of Rainpunk engines to boost Resolve are often necessary to prevent them from abandoning your settlement during the storm.
- Harpies benefit the most from
Dye out of any species. Dye can be used for making
Paste,
Coats,
Scrolls, and
Tea, all of which can boost Harpy Resolve. - The Harpy Firekeeper bonus has an unexpectedly low impact on productivity under normal circumstances, but there are a few specific situations where the bonus is extremely helpful:
- When hauling goods to or from a Glade Event.
- After a Small Fishing Hut or Fishing Hut has depleted a pond.
- When farmers are harvesting crops during Clearance.
Trivia

- There is a Harpy Trader named Xiadani Stormfeather.
- Harpies have two skins, with one skin having purple waistcoats, slimmer pants and blue gloves - and the other skin having red waistcoats, puffy pants and brown gloves.
- They also have two voice pitches, high and low.
- At 7 blueprints, Harpies have the fewest Comfort bonuses of all species.
- Harpies are the only species to wear both
Coats and Boots. - Harpies first appeared in the lore after a Discord poll between them and Bats. Harpies were added to the game in the 0.18 Grace of the Harpies Update.
- Before update 1.4, Harpies had
Biscuits and
Pie needs instead of Paste and Boots.
