Challenges are conditions that unlock new items for all runs once completed. Challenges are displayed in the Compendium, where they are arranged in a 13x5 grid. Their conditions and bonuses are hidden until completed but can be revealed by completing two adjacent challenges. Both maps have 65 challenges each. The following challenges exist for Woodlands:

Big Spender	Spend a total of 30 gold in a single run	Gilded Edge
Well Well Well	Throw a lot of gold (20) into a well	Royal Shield
Beggars CAN be choosers	Skip a heroes grave	Iron Shrapnel
Lifeblood Overflow	Overheal 30 or more health in a single battle	Lifeblood Spear
Battle Medic	Restore 15 or more health in a single turn	Bramble Vest

Second Wind	Trigger 4 different wounded items at the same time	Lifeblood Armor
Nocturnal Predator	Defeat 5 enemies during a single night	Studded Gauntlet
Get Dunked On	Die to the first strike of a boss	Double Explosion
Near-Death Experience	Win a battle with 1 health remaining	Heart-shaped Potion
Less Is More	Defeat the first boss with only Common items in your inventory	Lifeblood Helmet
Slowpoke	Start a battle with -5 base speed	Ironstone Bow

Gold Rush	Collect a total of a 80 gold in a single run	Royal Helmet
Woodland Mastery	Unlock all other challenges in woodland	Druid's Cloak
Shield Wall	Have a total of 50 or more armor	Blastcap Armor
Shield Splitter	Remove 10 or more armor in a single strike	Granite Hammer
Multitasking	Defeat the second boss before the first cycle is over	Ironstone Armor
Test of Strength	Find and challenge a boss in the overworld	Vampire's Tooth
Cartographer	Unlock 5 different waypoints during a single run	Frostbite Greaves
Woodland Victory	Defeat Woodland Abomination for the first time	Twin Blade
Animal Friend	Defeat the first boss before you battle a single enemy	Razor Breastplate
Chain Reaction	10 or more item effects at battle start	Bomb Bag
Masochist	Take 5 or more damage from your own items in a turn	Blackbriar Gauntlet
Big Stick	Deal 10 damage using the Wooden Stick weapon	Lifesteal Scythe
Stick Always Wins	Defeat Leshen with a Wooden Stick	Blackbriar Armor
Untouchable	Defeat Leshen in a run where you never lost health	Bramble Belt
