If your first item is 
Woodcutter's Axe — the award of Woodland Challenge: Timber — use the Esc menu to "Fight Boss" immediately. You'll survive with 1
and earn Woodland Challenge: Animal Friend, Woodland Challenge: Early Bird as a bonus.
It would be difficult in the extreme to beat Woodland Challenge: Untouchable with a Grizzly first, so use the Esc menu's "New Run" option instead.
