Queen's Impatience

Overview

Creating a successful settlement is a race against the clock. The Queen's Impatience is this clock. Her Impatience will increase every minute. When Her Impatience reaches a maximum of 14 points, you lose or go into a Last Stand.
Gaining Impatience

The red bar on the bottom right is Her Impatience, it will increase by a certain amount every minute. Viceroys can see how fast it increases (Queen's Impatience Speed) by hovering their cursor on the skull icon.
Base Queen's Impatience Speed is 0.255 points per minute. All of the Queen's Impatience Speed values get rounded down in the UI to the second decimal.
When a Viceroy gains Impatience, they will see the Forests' Hostility go down. This is because Impatience and Hostility are linked. Every full point of Impatience gives -15 Hostility, up to -210 Hostility at full 14 points.
Viceroys can make the Queen mad and increase Her Impatience by:
- Calling a trader
- First Trader Call raises Impatience by 0.5 points. Every subsequent Call doubles the previous amount
- Assaulting a trader
- Results in 2-3 Impatience points depending on the trader, plus some Impatience from villager deaths
- Having villagers leave or die
- Below Prestige 20, every villager that leaves or dies raises Impatience by 0.3 points
- Prestige 20 raises the penalty to 0.8 Impatience points
- Rebellious Spirit Cornerstone raises the Impatience penalty by an additional 0.2 points
- Picking the Mist Piercers Cornerstone and then opening Glades
- Every newly discovered Glade with Mist Piercers raises Impatience by 0.5 Points
Reducing Impatience
There are several ways of reducing Impatience:
- Gaining Reputation Points. By default, a full point of Reputation lowers Impatience by the same amount. Prestige 14 reduces Impatience decreased per Reputation point by 50%, to 0.5 Points.
- Buying the Badge of Courage Perk from Alune Soulgazer, one of the Glade traders, or getting it from a big Dullahan Warlander Mystery Box.
- The Borrowed Time Cornerstone.

Slowing down Impatience
There are several ways of slowing down Impatience:
- Assigning a Firekeeper from the
Humans to the Hearth. A Human Firekeeper can lower the base 0.255 points/minutes by 25% to 0.19125
- Upgrading the Obsidian Archive in the Citadel. Each upgrade reduces Her Impatience rate by 2%, up to 40%. A 40% reduction to base Queen's Impatience Speed sets it to 0.153 points per minute
- With both a Human Firekeeper and full upgrades Queen's Impatience Speed is lowered by a total of 65% to 0.08925 points per minute
- Land of Greed Map Modifier adds a flat +50% Impatience speed, but reduces it by 20% for each ongoing trade route.
- The Frequent Caravans Cornerstone:

Last Stand
Viceroys can acquire the Last Stand upgrade in the Obsidian Archive branch of the Citadel, providing them with an extra 30 seconds at 14 Impatience to pull a rabbit out of a hat and find a way to lower it. This feature can be upgraded to last up to 90 seconds at later levels.
| Upgrade | Last Stand Duration |
|---|---|
| Obsidian Archive level 5 | 30 seconds |
| Obsidian Archive level 15 | 60 seconds |
