This page discusses the game mechanics for orgs. For a list of all orgs in Terra Invicta, as well as their stats, see Org List instead.
Orgs, or organizations, are government agencies, private companies, and criminal syndicates, that a councilor may control. Orgs may provide incomes, stat bonuses, new Missions, and bonuses to the faction's investment priorities in Nations. Orgs are rated from tier 1 to tier 3 (represented by the number of
stars attached to the org icon), and councilors may manage one tier of org per point in the administration stat.
Most orgs become available on a faction's exclusive market, and will rotate to be available to another faction after a period of time. Orgs are purchased using
Money,
Influence and rarely
Ops or
Boost. They may also be acquired via the
Hostile Takeover missions or during trades with other factions. Factions may also gain special orgs for completing objectives or during Events.
Newly acquired orgs for a councilor do not provide bonuses until during the next mission phase, with the exception of
Administration for the purposes of calculating a councilor's org capacity. If a councilor is
Detained, then all of their equipped orgs are made inactive and will only be reactivated on the mission phase after the councilor is released.
Markets
Every faction (even the
Aliens) has its own private org marketplace that other factions cannot access. In addition, there is a shared pool of orgs in the void that cannot be accessed by any faction, but is used to store orgs that may later appear in some faction's private org marketplace.
On the 15th of every month, every faction's private org marketplace is refreshed (in a randomized order). This refresh is composed of the following steps:
- Every org that was already in the market has a (100% - 25% per star) chance to be removed from the market and sent into the void.
- The market size limit for this month is set to a random number between 5 and 10. Then the Arrival Markets and Institutional Outreach projects, if researched, each increase the market size limit by an additional 5 orgs. The refresh immediately ends if the number of orgs in the market has already reached or exceeded the market size limit.
- The orgs in the void are shuffled, and then for each org:
- If the org is not allowed on the faction's market, it is skipped.
- If the org is allowed on the faction's market, then it has a 5% chance to be removed from the void and sent into the faction's market. The chance is increased to 10% if the faction has an affinity for that specific org.
- The refresh immediately ends if the number of orgs in the market has reached or exceeded the market size limit.
- If the market size limit has still not been reached, then each remaining slot attempts to fill itself with a newly generated randomized org. Note that this attempt can fail if the newly generated org is not allowed on this specific faction's market.
After all factions' org markets are refreshed, the game then deletes randomized orgs in the void until there are at most 50 of them. The chance for each randomized org in the void to be deleted is proportional to (4 - 1 per star). Non-randomized orgs can never be deleted.
Orgs may be sold from your control back to the marketplace for 1/3 of their original
Money cost, but
Influence,
Ops, and
Boost prices are not refunded.
Orgs may also be directly put into the marketplace by the completion of specific global techs. See Technology#Org_Unlocks for details.
Unassigned orgs
Each faction may own up to 10 orgs that are not assigned to any specific councilor, which can be used to hold orgs for transfer between Councilors, or to save good orgs with benefits you don't need currently but expect to want later. You need to pay some
Money or
Influence to assign those orgs to a councilor.
These orgs do not confer any benefits to the faction, but those with negative incomes continue to cost resources to maintain.
Unassigned orgs are much easier targets for the
Hostile Takeover mission.
Types of Orgs
There are several common archetypes of orgs, many of which can overlap:

| Government Orgs | Representing various secret services, national labs, and other government agencies, these orgs can only be equipped by Councilors that have the Government Trait. |
| Market Orgs | These orgs may be bought from and sold to the markets. |
| National Orgs | These orgs operate in a specific Region of the Earth, and are beholden to the Nation that controls that Region. They can only be equipped by Factions that have at least one of the following: |
| Prominent Orgs | These orgs grant their bearer the Prominent trait, which grants the Marked trait to any Councilors that try to |
| Random Orgs | These orgs are not pre-defined. They spawn with random names, home Regions, and bonuses, albeit still within certain limits. Many duplicates can exist simultaneously. Most of these orgs are also Market Orgs, with the exception of Random Cult 11 and Random Vigilante 11, which are instead generated by random events.
These are the only orgs that the game spawns to fill in markets that still need more orgs. And these are the only orgs that get deleted from the void after the monthly market refresh when there are more than 50 of them in the void. |
