TI Fleet Manager/Fleet Panel and Hierarchy Tab

From Terra Invicta Official Wiki

This page is part of the TI Fleet Manager mod.

TI Fleet Manager adds two places where you work with the fleet hierarchy:

  • the Fleet Hierarchy panel in the fleet info on the map - for the fleet you have selected;
  • the Hierarchy tab on the Fleets screen - for all your fleets at once, and for moving single ships.

Fleet Hierarchy panel (map)

When you select one of your own fleets, the panel appears above the vanilla ship list, as wide as the Ships bar.

  • Title row: Fleet Hierarchy and the Commission button (Commissioning Ships). A mothballed fleet shows its reserve tag in the title, for example Fleet Hierarchy [RESERVE].
  • Action row: Auto-Organise and Recall All.
  • Unit list below. It scrolls, keeps its position when the game refreshes, and the mouse wheel over it scrolls the list instead of zooming the map. It always shows at least 5 rows and stops above the bottom of the screen.

Units that belong to this fleet

Squadrons are shown in bold, for example 1. LACRon (3 div / 9 ships): combat squadrons first, then the INDRon. Divisions are listed below their squadron, for example 1. Div (3 ships), followed by a status tag.

Tag Colour Meaning
(none) - The division is with this fleet.
[AWAY] amber Its ships are in another fleet (detached).
[RTB] cyan Its ships are returning to this fleet.
[RESERVE], [RESERVE - EXPOSED], [REACTIVATING nd] grey The fleet holding its ships is mothballed, see Reserve.

If several apply, [RTB] wins over a reserve tag, and a reserve tag wins over [AWAY].

Row Buttons
Division that is with the fleet Detach (also in a mothballed fleet - this splits the reserve)
Division that is away Recall (hidden while the division sits in a mothballed fleet, or while this fleet is mothballed)
Division that is returning -
Combat squadron Detach; also Recall while at least one of its divisions is away, not already returning and not in a reserve
INDRon - (independent divisions are detached one by one)

Visiting units

If the fleet carries divisions that belong to another fleet, they are listed under Detached from <home fleet>, sorted by home fleet, squadron and division. Ship counts only include the ships that are physically in this fleet.

Row Buttons Effect
Visiting division Return, Split Recall it to its home fleet / split it into its own fleet.
Visiting division that was split off from another detached fleet → Sq, Return Rejoin the detached fleet it came from / go back to the home fleet.
A piece that was split off from this fleet Recall (shown with [AWAY]) Undo the split.
Squadron header in this section Return; → Sq if all its visitors came from the same fleet; Split if none of them was split off already The same for the whole group.

Splitting is limited to one level: a piece that was split off cannot be split again. See Detach and Recall for what each button does.

Hierarchy tab (Fleets screen)

The Fleets & Ship Construction screen gets a new Hierarchy tab next to the vanilla tabs. Clicking it again returns to the tab you came from. When you reopen the screen, it always starts on the vanilla Fleets list.

The columns are Unit, CS (combat strength) and Action.

Fleet rows

There is one row per own fleet, sorted by name, collapsed at first. If you have no fleets, the tab shows No own fleets found. Small fleets that only carry divisions of other fleets (detached units, units on their way home, ships under delivery) are not listed as their own rows; they appear inside their home fleet.

A fleet row shows the name, number of ships, combat strength, delta-v (current/maximum), acceleration and location, the vanilla rename button, a reserve tag if the fleet is mothballed, and the buttons Commission and Auto-Organise (Auto-Organise also expands the row).

Click a row to expand or collapse it. Squadrons and divisions inside it can be collapsed separately; the tab remembers what you collapsed.

Inside an expanded fleet

  1. Squadron rows - combat squadrons, then the INDRon, then the BuildRon. Each shows its divisions and ships, combat strength, delta-v, acceleration and location, and a status: [DETACHED] if a division is away, [EN ROUTE] if one is returning or being delivered, or a reserve tag. An arrow button moves the camera to the detached or returning fleet. Combat squadrons have the buttons Standalone and Dissolve.
  2. Division rows with the same columns and the buttons Standalone (not for ships under delivery) and Independent - or Assign for a division in the INDRon.
  3. Ship rows in the vanilla look, with the vanilla ship tooltip and a Move button.
  4. Unassigned - ships without a division, each with an Assign button.
  5. The last row: + LACRon, + CruRon, + BatRon and + AuxRon create an empty squadron of that type with the lowest free number.

Squadron rows are tinted by type: LACRon blue-grey, CruRon green, BatRon red-brown, AuxRon violet, INDRon and BuildRon grey; division rows are dark blue.

Buttons

Button Where Effect
Move / Assign ship row Opens the Move: <ship> window: pick any division of this fleet that has room (shown as 1. Div (2/3)). + New Division puts the ship into a new independent division (only if the INDRon has fewer than 4 divisions). Remove from Division makes the ship unassigned. If no division has room, the window says (No divisions with free slot).
Assign division in the INDRon Opens Assign Division: <division>: pick a combat squadron with fewer than 4 divisions (shown as 1. LACRon (3/4)). The division gets the lowest free number there. If none has room: (No squadrons with free slot).
Independent division in a combat squadron Moves the division into the fleet's INDRon. Refused if the INDRon already has 4 divisions.
Dissolve combat squadron Its divisions move into the INDRon. Divisions that do not fit any more are broken up and their ships become unassigned.
Standalone squadron or division Turns the unit into a fleet of its own, see Detach and Recall.
+ LACRon … + AuxRon last row Creates an empty squadron.

The tab is built to stay fast with hundreds of ships, because rows are only created when you expand a fleet.
