TI Fleet Manager/Commissioning Ships

From Terra Invicta Official Wiki

This page is part of the TI Fleet Manager mod.

Commissioning orders new ships for a specific fleet. TI Fleet Manager chooses the shipyard that can deliver soonest, pays and queues the ships like a normal build, and sends the finished ships to the fleet, where they join the right squadron by themselves.

Ordering ships

Click Commission in the fleet's map panel or on its row in the Hierarchy tab. The Commission Ships - <fleet> window opens. It is refused for a mothballed fleet.

  • Available Designs (left): your current, non-obsolete ship designs, sorted by class. If you have none: (No ship designs available).
  • Click a design to add one ship of it to the Order Queue (right). Each queue row has −, + (up to 99 per design) and X (remove).
  • The footer shows Total (nx) - the summed cost of all queued ships - and Total Production Time - the estimated number of days until the last ship reaches the fleet. The time is missing if no shipyard can build a design.
  • Order places the order (disabled while the queue is empty). Cancel, X or a click on the dark background close the window without ordering.

The ships are paid and queued exactly like a vanilla build, including paying from Earth. If no shipyard can build a design, nothing is queued and nothing is paid.

Which shipyard builds

Each ship goes to the shipyard with the earliest delivery to the fleet:

delivery = ships already queued at the yard + build time + travel time to the fleet

Ships ordered in the same click are counted, so a large order spreads over several yards when that is faster. Shipyards on the surface of a planet or moon can build too, but get 10 extra days for the launch.

The travel time is the game's own transfer estimate. When it has none, the mod uses:

Shipyard and fleet Assumed travel time
at the same hab 0 days
at the same planet or moon 2 days
in the same planetary system 15 days
in different systems 30 + 40 × distance in AU days
unknown 60 days

Delivery

  • Built at the fleet's station: the ship joins the fleet at once.
  • Built at the same planet or moon: the ship merges with the fleet there; ships built on the surface are launched first.
  • Built elsewhere: the ship becomes a division of the fleet's BuildRon, marked [EN ROUTE] in the Hierarchy tab (the arrow button shows it on the map), and flies to the fleet automatically. Ships from surface yards are launched into orbit first. The trip uses the same planner as a recall and refuses trips that would use more than 90 % of the ship's delta-v.
  • On arrival the ship joins the matching combat squadron of the fleet: it tops up a partly filled division, otherwise starts a new division, otherwise a new squadron. The BuildRon disappears when it is empty.

Limits

  • The BuildRon holds at most 4 divisions on their way. Further finished ships wait at their shipyard as their own fleet and are sent as soon as a slot is free.
  • Open orders survive saving and loading. Ships that were finished but not delivered yet are picked up after loading.
  • If the target fleet is destroyed, the open orders are dropped and the ships are completed as ordinary new fleets.
  • Removing a ship from the vanilla build queue does not cancel the commission order: the next ship of the same design at that yard is sent to the fleet instead.
