The Fisherman's hut is a gathering building that employs villagers who catch fishes from nearby shoals of fish.

Construction

Fisherman's huts requires 2 timber to be constructed. They can be placed anywhere in a players region, although it is highly recommended to place them near shoals of fish. Once built, they cannot be relocated.

Usage

Each fisherman's hut allows for up to three families to work there. Those workers will catch fish from nearby shoals of fish. For the functionality of the building it is irrelevant, if the shoal of fish is located in a river, a lake, or a pond. All three locations are fished from the same fisherman's hut. The difference of these locations is the resulting catched fish.

  • Shoals in rivers let you fish Eels.
  • Shoals in lakes and ponds let you fish Carps.

Fish respawns only during spring season (Mar - May).
The workers will drop the catched fish in the pantry of the Fisherman's Hut, where it needs to be picked up, by your Granary workers.
In the Advanced tab of the Fisherman's Hut you can (and should) set a reserve of fish in the nearby shoal. If no reserve is set, you risk losing your fish forever.

Tips & Tricks

The respawn rate of fish is based on the current number of them in the shoal. The more fish there are, the higher the respawn rate. It is advised to set the reserve based on the following formula:

  • max. number of fish / 1.4 = reserve
  • so for a shoal of maximum 396 fish, you would set reserve to 396 / 1.4 = 282

If you encounter a drought, your pond will shrink in size significantly, reducing availabe fish in the process.
Try to move your fish to a granary or large granary fast. The spoilage rate in the pantry of the fisherman's hut is bad.
In winter season you will see ponds freeze. While frozen, no fishing is possible.
