The game map and its regions

There are three playable maps: Germanic Valley, High Peaks and Winding River.

Maps

The sprawling Germanic Valley

Germanic Valley

This is a map of soft, rolling plains: a sprawling valley, as the name suggests, nestled between inaccessible larger hills and mountains in the distance. Its topography is mild, featuring only one cliff-like area, in the Nusslohe region. One long brook cuts through almost the entire map, forming the border between Schenfurt, Eichenhau and Leidenfeld, before flowing through the Am Aiberbach region and coming to a sudden stop in Wirnitz. There are also rumours of abandoned windmill and granary ruins in the Leidenfeld region.

This map is made up of 8 regions: Nusslohe, Boswies, Wirnitz, Hagensteig, Leidenfeld, Am Aiberbach, Eichenhau and Schenfurt. Nusslohe is the largest one and Eichenhau the smallest. Their names can be changed in the development menu if the region is owned.

The imposing High Peaks

High Peaks

In contrast with the other maps, High Peaks is one of extremities. The map itself is relatively small, flanked by massive mountains on both sides. It also features the biggest hills in the game, with impressive cliffs to build your villages and towns atop of. A brook winds itself between the hills. Put together, High Peaks offers interesting strategic elements: the Baron can only attack from either end of the map, while the large hills can provide your defenses with a high ground advantage. Bandit camps can still spring up wherever, so watch out!

This map is made up of 4 regions: Altbruch, Leuter Flucht, Erlhardt and Lieneck. Leuter Flucht is the largest one and Lieneck the smallest. Their names can be changed in the development menu if the region is owned.

The meanders of the Winding River

Winding River

Meandering through this map is a big river. Bridges offer a way to connect your towns and villages! They also double as a terrific defensive position: rain down arrows on your enemies as they cross. The topography is similar to that of the Germanic Valley, although this map features impressive cliff faces hugging the river in the An Der Dorlei and Tausendbruck regions, and smaller ones in the Roheloch region.

This map is made up of 7 regions: Wildfeld, Klainau, Tausendbruck, Schachspitz, Furdau, An Der Dorlei and Roheloch. Roheloch is the largest one and An Der Dorlei the smallest. Their names can be changed in the development menu if the region is owned.

Deposits

Every region will have one of each resource deposits and areas with high soil fertility. However the amount of resources in each deposit varies from region to region. Each region will have one or two rich deposits, shown with a crown above them.

  • Wild Animal deposits have 20 wild animals, or 40 if the deposit is rich. They can be harvested with a hunting camp building. The deposit replenishes at a steady pace. It is possible to hunt the animals to extinction if you remove the hunting limit. If a building is placed near the animals they will migrate.
  • Berries.png Berry deposits have 64 berries, or 128 if the deposit is rich. They can be harvested with a [[|Forager hut|Forager hut]] building. The deposit will replenish over the spring and will be depleted during winter.
  • Stone.png Stone deposits have random resources, ranging from 50 to 1180. They can be harvested by the stonecutter camp. They are not replenished and will eventually be depleted.
  • Clay.png Clay deposits have random resources, ranging from 50 to 4000. They can be mined with a mining pit building. They are not replenished and will eventually be depleted. If the deposit is rich it can produce resources indefinitely if the mining pit has the deep mine upgrade.
  • Iron ore.pngIron deposits have random resources, ranging from 50 to 4000. They can be mined with a mining pit building. They are not replenished and will eventually be depleted. If the deposit is rich it can produce resources indefinitely after upgrading the mining pit to a deep mine.
  • Salt.png Salt deposits have random resources, ranging from 150 to 3000. They can be mined with a mining pit building. They are not replenished and will eventually be depleted. If the deposit is rich it can produce resources indefinitely after upgrading the mining pit to a deep mine.

Expanding into new regions

In order to build in a region you don't own you need to claim it. Regions can be claimed with either 1000 Influence or King's Favor. After paying the cost you must wait a month before gaining control of the region. Newly controlled regions do not have any resources and population. To add some, you must place a Settlers Camp. Once placed, you will have to pay from Treasury to gain the starting supplies needed to build in the region. All options will begin with 5 Families.

  • Modest starting supplies cost 250 Treasury and starts with 20 Bread, 20 Firewood, 20 Stone and 10 Tools.
  • Average starting supplies cost 500 Treasury and starts with 40 Bread, 40 Firewood, 40 Stone and 20 Tools.
  • Plentiful starting supplies cost 750 Treasury and starts with 60 Bread, 60 Firewood, 60 Stone and 30 Tools.
