Fertilizer is a Resource.

Production

Fertilizer is produced at the Sifting Tower.

Input	Production time	Output	Pollution	Research
1 × Potash 13 × Water	144s (2m 24s)	5 × Fertilizer	High pollution	Potash Fertilizer
3 × Guano 25 × Water	233s (3m 53s)	10 × Fertilizer	Low pollution	Guano Collection

Research path

• Charcoal Furnace → Ore Furnace → Water Pumping → Sifting Tower → Potash Fertilizer
• Flax Spinner → Fabrics → Ship building → Small Shipyard → Deep Sea Fishing Dock → Guano Collection

Usage

Farming

A Farm can be set to apply Fertilizer to its fields. Soil nutrients slowly recover on their own when depleted, but Fertilizer replenishes them and can boost them above their normal level, as well as raise the level the soil recovers to.

Some crops depend on it:

• Tea Leaves demand fertilizer to grow properly.
• Peppers will not grow without fertilizer.
• Wheat is more sensitive to soil fertility than native crops, and Cotton depletes soil nutrients quickly; both benefit from it.
• Native crops such as Berries and Flax rarely need it.

See the Farmer's Almanac for more on soil nutrients.

Trade

Fertilizer can be traded to the Smuggler for 21 coins each. See Demands. It is not accepted by the Tax Collector or the Pirates.
