Earthworks
Earthworks buildings are used to fill in water and holes. You can make land bridges to other islands as well.
All Earthworks tasks must be marked using the Earthworks Tool (shovel icon). Projects will consume Stone to fill in the desired area. In order to fill holes or water that are greater than one tile in depth, the entire depth from surface to bottom of the hole needs to be marked for filling. If it is not, Whiskers may insist there is no project in range of the Earthworks building.
Approximately 5 Stone are needed to fill one tile, which is more than the 2 stones you get for mining a tile without ore. This makes Earthworks a particularly effective way to dump your surplus Stone, if you have accumulated too much from mining. Filling in tiles will take your Whiskers a significant amount of time and large projects will take several in game days to complete.
Filled-in tiles will have a distinctive look of dark grey on the sides and surrounded on all sides by support beams. Additionally, the surface will contain 100% rocks if used later for farming. These can later be removed by a Farm and the soil amended with Fertilizer, allowing you to create viable large flat areas for farming. It will, however, take a considerable amount of patience to reach peak effectiveness.
The Earthworks building can be moved freely once constructed. One or two Earthworks buildings may be sufficient for most projects unless time is of the essence.
