Fissiles are a resource collected from Space Mining. They represent materials that can undergo nuclear fission, especially uranium and thorium.
Fissiles are primarily used for nuclear fission reactors and nuclear weapons. Fission reactor arrays for habs are typically the main consumer, both in terms of construction cost and upkeep cost, with fuel for Orion drives, ship reactors, antimatter production, and nuclear missiles also potentially being significant users.
Fissiles are a rare resource, and they use a more widely varying formula for mine yield than other resources. This means that output can very greatly between games, and that the output is often dominated by a small number of good sites. In some cases, you can even see a single site on Mercury or Mars with as much fissile output as every other site in the inner solar system combined.
If the player does not have enough fissiles in space, they can be purchased from Earth for 100
Money per unit and raised into space for
Boost. Fissiles can also be sold to earth for a base price of 5
per unit, which can be raised with projects and certain priorities from Earth's nations, and lowered by selling large quantities to Earth. See Resources#Buying_and_Selling_Space_Resources for details.
