Every hero has a set Hero Class, which determines the odds for the growth of the hero's Attributes and the Skills they're likely to learn, broadly dictating what battle style the hero is well-suited for. Classes are divided by Faction and by whether they focus on Might or Magic.

Every faction has 2 classes of heroes:

  • A Might class, which focuses on the Attack and Defense attributes that directly empower the hero's army's stats and is more likely to learn Might-related skills that strengthen the hero's army, including the Might-exclusive skill Combat that powers up Heroic Strike.
  • A Magic class, which focuses on the Spell Power and Knowledge attributes which deal with casting spells, and is more likely to learn Magic-related skills that make the hero better at Spellcasting, including the Magic-exclusive skill Thaumaturgy that lets them cast spells twice per round.

Classes belonging to a faction get exclusive access to that faction's faction skill, and receive no penalties when moving on that faction's native terrain, regardless of what factions their army's units belong to.

See individual Hero Class pages for details on their Elite Classes.
