The Main Game Screen is where the player will spend most game time.

After Game Creation the majority of a game will be spent looking at the Map, with pop-ups displaying specific information related to what the player is attempting to influence. Unless looking at the Ideas, Skills, Family Tree, or Expedition panels the screen will be displaying the Map with overlays etc. as described below. The Map may be zoomed in significantly for more specific commands to be issued, or out to look at the entire area the player may influence.

Top Left

With the cursor over a map element there will be a semi-transparent box with white text that gives information on:

  • Year #, Season, Day #, Time of day
  • Outside Temperature if cursor is outside, or Room temperature if inside.
  • Wind chill for outdoor tiles
  • X, Y coordinates (game has no Z direction)
  • Light level (Daylight, Firelight, Darkness)
  • Roof (if applicable)
  • Ground surface and resources that could be gathered
  • Movement speed (1.00 is normal, higher means the Clanfolk walk faster)
  • Environment of that tile, and the surrounding Local Area
  • Room characteristics (size ...)
  • Percentages for moisture, fertiliser, growth rate, flammability

Just to the right of that box, along the top of the screen is a horizontal listing of resources the Clanfolk have available, with the number of each displayed under the icon. Specific resources can be added to or removed from the listing by clicking the Bookmark checkbox in the Inventory. The position of each icon can also be dragged to reorder the display.
(N.B. This table is illustrative, not actual. And the game will quickly end up with many more icons unless managed by the player.)

Top Right

Menu Icon () which brings up the save/load/quit/etc. screen.
Just to the left of that are a selection of overlay options which can show the player temperature differentials, fertiliser and growth rates, and other things. There is also an ability to cycle through Roof display (always on, always off, or zoom dependant). (These icons are shown without text. N.B. This table is also an approximation, some icons will differ.)

Game speed options are displayed below those icons: Pause, x1, x2, x4. With the last option changing to x12 when all Clanfolk are sleeping. Four icons for the four speed options are displaced and a text display below them shows the current speed: PAUSED, x1, x2, x4, x12

Bottom Left

Across most of the bottom of the screen (depending on resolution) the Main Toolbar will form, used for giving instructions to the Clanfolk. Most are present at game start; Planting and Stockpiles are added when the Clan can first use them.

Select Buildings Objects Planting Jobs Stockpiles Zones Inventory Task List Ideas Skills Family Tree Clans Current Coin

When clicking on most of the left side icons a new row of icons will populate up, giving the player sub-options relevant to what was selected. Ideas brings up an overlay screen, as do Skills and Family Tree.

When not using the Toolbar, there is a Clanfolk display just above it (that can toggle to Livestock/Pets), showing icons for each member of the Clan, along with any Visitors. The bottom left of each small box gives an indication of what the Clanfellow is doing, with a clock symbol indicating they are experiencing Free Time. (Babies are always in Free Time)
The Clan Chief will have a Clan Shield icon above their picture. (At game start this will almost certainly be the leftmost Clanfellow.) Any Clanfellow set to Overwork or Time Off instead of normal duties will have a happy or angry face above their icon.

  • Clanfolk will be grouped by Family Unit (Member born to the Clan, their Spouse, and any offspring), followed by single members of the Clan, and ending with the Visitors. When Juveniles become Adults they are no longer necessarily displayed with their parents.
  • Livestock and Pets will display sorted by Species, Sex, Age.

Bottom Right

Options regarding Auto Jobs, i.e. Auto Harvest, Auto Replant, Auto Fertilize, Auto Water, Fire Fighting. Each can be set with a Priority to influence when they are done compared to the Jobs assigned directly by the player.

Above these Auto Job icons are three more semi-transparent icons, one resets all Stockpiles Priorities.

To the left is an indication of how many days of Food are currently available (Knife and Fork icon), and the time of day (Night, Time Off, Work, Time Off, Night).

Right Hand edge

Throughout the game there will be icons appear along the right hand edge of the screen, showing notifications for the player. These can be Important (displaying in Red, eg. someone is starving), notice that new Ideas are available (displaying the relevant icon with a blue padlock symbol overlaid), or Tutorial notices. All can be dismissed by right-click or investigated with left-click.
