Burner Generators are the first Building settlements get access to that generates Power. At first, the buildings requiring power must be touching the Burner Generator, until Power Lines can transport it over roads and empty tiles.
The Burner Generator produces Medium levels of pollution.
The Burner Generator is unlocked after a Mine produces the first 5 Iron Ore.
Production
The Burner Generator produces Power by consuming Wood or Wood Waste into Soot.
There may need to be available Storage nearby for the Soot, since as soon as the generate fills with Soot, it can no longer produce power. If there are no Tools available to build a Storage Shed, and no power because the generator is full of Soot, the generator or another Building may need to be demolished.
Adjacency effects
4x empty tiles, including roads
- -20% speed
- -25% Pollution
Strategy
A single Burner Generator can power multiple other early-settlement buildings like the Ore Smelter, Metal Smelter, and Toolsmith. However, be sure not to crowd them around the generator and lose its Adjacency Effect, because Pollution is a big risk around the generator and the buildings that use its Power.
Situating a Burner Generator amid several Forests can offset its pollution, even if it is running continuously.
Despite early settlements having extra Wood Waste, it may be prudent to never enable the generator to burn Wood Waste for power, because the by-product is essential and in significant quantities for producing Compost necessary for terraforming.
