Hi, I'm Rihlsul. relatively new to Whiskerwood, and since I keep running into things I want to learn more about as I play, thought I'd try to help out. Discord, I go by the same name, find me in the ww-wiki channel.
I play a lot of colony games, and have modded RimWorld and Timberborn.
What I'm doing here
I'm filling gaps on this wiki with information taken directly from the game files, so pages carry the game's real numbers rather than estimates. Most of my edits are one of these:
- New pages for resources and buildings that were missing or only existed as red links (a lot of the naval content from patches 26–28).
- Corrections where recipe times, amounts or construction costs have changed since a page was written.
- Additions such as usage details, catalyst wear, bathing and delivery details, and island trade, added to existing pages without removing anything other editors wrote.
Where the data comes from
- The official Whiskerwood modding kit, which includes the game's data tables (recipes, buildings, research, prices).
- The game's tuning values and building blueprints, read with community modding tools (CUE4Parse).
- In-game checks for things the files can't answer, such as which goods the Tax Collector and Smuggler accept.
Edit summaries say which game version the data is from (e.g. "patch 28 game data"). When the game updates I re-run the same process, so pages can be kept current.
Conventions I follow
- Page layouts copy the existing wiki style (the resource and building infoboxes, the Resources navbox).
- Will not buy means that trader doesn't accept the item. Unknown means nobody has confirmed it yet, so please fill it in if you know!
- Where a number's meaning is my best reading of the game files (for example, luxury use "per day"), I'd rather publish it and be corrected than leave the page empty.
Found a mistake?
Please just fix it! Or leave a note on my talk page and I'll look into it and fix the underlying data so it doesn't come back.
Open questions
Things the game files can't tell us, where players' knowledge helps most (including maybe mine soon, who knows):
- What are Steel Plates and the Letter of Recommendation used for?
- Do the Pirates accept Guano or the cannon shot types?
- Do all house tiers accept luxuries (Bedding, Furniture), or only some?
