The Soup Kitchen is used to make two different soup recipes for Whiskers. It initially starts with the recipe for Berry Soup (2-star quality) and can later produce Mushroom Stew (3-star quality) when researched.

All recipes at the Soup Kitchen up convert their base food ingredient of Berries or Mushrooms into more quantities of soup than the input food.

The Soup Kitchen requires piped water to function. Water must be piped into the building on its second floor on the opposite side of its first floor entrance. The water demands for the building are minimal, only using a few water per recipe.

The Soup Kitchen also utilizes Fuel in its recipes, so it will generate Pollution. It is best to locate this building downwind of your Whiskers to minimize the effects on them.

Like all food producing Buildings, it is best to focus on the best quality recipe that you can sustain. Berry Soup is a very easy recipe to make and a good way to tackle the "ate raw food" negative thought. When Flour and Mushrooms become available to you, you should work to switch your Soup Kitchens to Mushroom Stew for its added benefits.

An apprentice is required to start production at the building and unlocks the second slot for an untrained Whisker. The final work slot requires a craftsman but also significantly increases production speed.

The Soup Kitchen uses Iron Pots as a catalyst, but these are a late game item requiring the ability to refine Iron Ore in the Blast Furnace. They further increase production speed.

The building is primarily one tile high despite its stated footprint. The exception is the 2nd floor tile that receives the water input.
