Description
Despite our many technological advances, settling a new branch of humanity in the orbit of a distant star has required a profound step-change in our approach to spacecraft design. The speed and size of our first interstellar colony ship have been mere parts of the equation, rather than the end-goal in themselves. Because we cannot say exactly what awaits us in Chara, we have had to devise a vessel that can sustain human life in relative comfort for a generation, at least. Some might say that the accomplishment of this is nothing short of a miracle - but it is nothing of the sort. It is, simply, the consequence of unbridled human ingenuity and resolve.
