| Where social scientists are examining the changes in people and their relations en masse, psychologists are studying the individual and its response to the alien arrival. Our brains, evolved and wired in the Stone Age to worry about things like food, predatory animals, and opportunities for mating, were having trouble enough adapting to a wired, bureaucratic world where the most dangerous threats - such as climate change - are neither immediate nor visible, and the presence of aliens among us is overloading our already taxed minds. Will aberrant behaviors increase as humans become hopeless and adopt an every-man-for-himself approach to the world? Will we be able to widen our concept of our tribe to all of humanity as our differences fade in comparison to the aliens?
