In Game Description

Accelerates the constituent particles of a coherent beam weapon like the Mk600 and Mk610 to drastically increase their damage output with a slight decrease to firing duration.

Gameplay usage

While the cumulative effect of increasing overall DPS by 1.1875x as opposed to the Energy Regulator's increase of 1.2x for a greater cost in power and points than the latter may make this module seem inferior, it is actually considered the much more powerful module, as without these modules the Mk610 Beam Turret and Mk600 Beam Cannon only deal 60-damage hits at point-blank ranges, and even less at ranges nearing their edge which is insufficient to DT-Break in many circumstances involving larger warships, for example a fully outfitted Ocello with 40% Integrity Rating, will find itself only taking 36-damage hits, making Reinforced CICs unable to be destroyed by the beam even at 0m range. This module can thus be the difference between coring a ship in seconds, or an entire Beam-Solomon's broadside setting one compartment to 'red' as it fails to carve any further inside.

Lore

Clever engineering for warships equipped for energy warfare. It's simple; the ship's reactor exhaust is kept in a constant of flux in the Accelerator's capacitor which is then drawn through a channel into the optical chamber. The emission point is then "excited" by phonons before the charged particles are ejected as a phonon-assisted "cloud" of superheated particles. In short, you get a much more powerful beam, but one that also disipates quickly as particle cohesion quickly breaks down.

To keep the increase in heat in check, the chamber will "pulse" the accelerator instead of simply maintaining full power. It makes the repair side of things more difficult since the heat tends to melt the firing chamber but the Naval Office isn't interested in the downsides.
