From NEBULOUS: Fleet Command Official Wiki

In Game Description

Racing drive, high speed but fragile.

Gameplay usage

Analogous to the ANS Whiplash, but also the most fragile OSP drive. As a small drive, it can go into many reactor bays for a "double drive" layout, often combined with a CHI-777 Yard or CHI-7700 drive.

Notes

Multiple drives do not inherently affect the mobility of a ship, only provide redundancy, however, the modifiers to a ship's mobility are a combination of all installed drives' modifiers, so installing drives with multiple of the same effect can further affect it's capability (two whiplash drives will provide more speed than one, but a whiplash and standard drive will provide no different speed than a single whiplash). If some drives are disabled, only those drives' modifiers will be removed, which may even result in the ship's mobility improving in some cases (such as a prowled drive being disabled). If all drives on a ship are knocked out, it will not be able to move altogether.

Most drives have a small and large counterpart. Asides their sizes, OSPN drives tend to be less conformal in the differences between big and small than their ANS counterparts.

The Sundrive's Large counterpart is the CHI-9100 Long Haul Drive, which has more power, HP and DT, no wake signature modifier, a lower top speed modifier, a lower angular thrust penalty, and flips it's flank damage reduction to an increase.

Lore

The cheering roar of the crowd mixes with the screams of Strelok drives as racecraft zip past on the rain-slicked track. The skies of Black Sands shine a light gray, the chilly wind and light rain doing little to bring down the mood of the race. Lucien stands in the cockpit of his racer, attended to by the pit crew of Team Sundrive, as he checks his suit and engages his helmet's systems.

"So, can I count on your support?" Amelie calls over the ambient roar of the race. A pit member brushes past her, handing Lucien a small, circular device which he seems to attach somewhere on the nape of his neck. He gives her an absent-minded glance.

"You ask for a lot, Miss Koenig! My company produces the fastest drives in the Spur and I'd love nothing more than to have them honored by the Barons!" He pauses, slipping his helmet on as his crew does final checks. His voice breaks out over the din of the race through the helmet's vocoder. "But military production brings with it some dangers! If you lose this war, Shelter will gladly rip a big piece out of me in 'repayment' for supplying you with warship drives!"

Lucien lowers himself into the racecraft's pilot seat, the Strelok drive letting off a loud snarl as the racecraft gently levitates a few feet off the track. Amelie takes a step back, bringing her hand to her mouth to amplify her voice over the pulsing engine. "You won't win the race if you never enter it in the first place, Mister Gray! Think of it like that!"

Lucien laughs, wagging a gloved finger at her. "You're funny! I see why Caesar picked you! I'll think about it, Koenig! Now, excuse me, I have to win /this/ race first!"
