Component:big-yard

From NEBULOUS: Fleet Command Official Wiki

In Game Description

A High maneuverability drive commonly found on bulk haulers traveling in and out of dense asteroid fields, transporting mining yields to refineries elsewhere in the system.

Gameplay usage

Somewhat useful drive on gun-fit Marauders. The penalties are relatively small compared to the advantages for those ships. The modifiers are arguably worse than the CHI-777 Yard drive for Marauders (namely more speed malus), but the fragility is also a concern in under-driving them.

Notes

Multiple drives do not inherently affect the mobility of a ship, only provide redundancy, however, the modifiers to a ship's mobility are a combination of all installed drives' modifiers, so installing drives with multiple of the same effect can further affect it's capability (two whiplash drives will provide more speed than one, but a whiplash and standard drive will provide no different speed than a single whiplash). If some drives are disabled, only those drives' modifiers will be removed, which may even result in the ship's mobility improving in some cases (such as a prowled drive being disabled). If all drives on a ship are knocked out, it will not be able to move altogether.

Most drives have a small and large counterpart. Asides their sizes, OSPN drives tend to be less conformal in the differences between big and small than their ANS counterparts.

The CHI-7700's large counterpart is the CHI-777 Yard Drive, with less HP, a smaller Top Speed reduction and wake penalty, half the Linear Thrust bonus, and slightly more Turn Rate and Angular Thrust bonus.

Lore

I understand that you have a variety of vessels under you that utilize the 7700-A drives, Constantine. As a sign of good will for our continued partnership, I'm authorizing a transfer of additional parts to convert them into the 7700-B series that should be far easier for your crews to maintain and will serve as a better fit on your lineships than the usual 777. These are streamlined and will be as easy as replacing a few parts, a task that should only take some days to test and complete.

I do not expect anything in return but should you wish to provide something to me, I've learned that you were particularly close to the CEO of Falke-Tethys, that being Autumns. Of course, I am sure that you may have some insight into the operations of the Driveworks and of Autumns herself, insight that would be incredibly beneficial to myself and the further development of technology for the Protectorate. Maybe we can discuss this on your return to Black Sands? I know an excellent restaurant in the capital.

  1. ↑ The amount of force the ship can exert to accelerate/brake in any direction, including strafing and reversing, but not to pitch, yaw, or roll - that would be Angular Thrust.
  2. ↑ The maximum speed the ship can yaw/pitch/etc at, but not how quickly it can start/stop turning, that would be the Angular Thrust.
  3. ↑ The amount of force a ship can apply when rotating itself: for example how quickly it can accelerate/decelerate the turn rate of yawing/pitching/rolling
