Component:aux
In Game Description
Provides an emergency backup for steering the ship when main control is lost, allowing the ship to get to safety and effect repairs. For best redundancy it should be located far from the CIC.
Gameplay usage
The low cost, decently high HP, and "Reinforced" tag means Aux. Steerings are often used for "Tanking Compartments" facing enemy fire. Unlike other command modules, it does not provide intelligence effort, does not allow any command types other than MOVE, and the ship will be abandoned by crew if it is the only valid command compartment.

Lore
Not every warship has these since it's kind of difficult to steer a warship when it's already crippled, but they save lives (and the ship, for that matter) when they're installed.
It's loud, it's hot, and it's cramped, so for a lot of crewmen, it's home.
