Wu Wei is an infantry Squad Leader from The Backbone. He is fanatically devoted to them, so much so that he regards his own life (and the lives of his men) to be of little consequence compared to "The Unbent's" ultimate goals. As a result, his kit revolves growing stronger the more damage he takes and squaddies he loses.

Weiwu, along with Roisin Murdock and Harlan Corlain, is a special Honor Guard unit: he can only be recruited after gaining a sufficient level of trust with a particular faction, in his case The Backbone. Hiring any one of these characters makes the trust requirement for the other two higher, so the player will be unable to get all three at the same time. To make up for the comparatively higher difficulty of recruiting them, these characters have higher stats than most 2-star units, and possess 5 rather than 4 unique Perks.

Dare To Die	Once per mission, if Weiwu is struck with fatal damage, it will be ignored and he will be invincible until the next round. Gain 3% Crit chance per enemy unit killed, capping at 30%. Conversely, even the smallest creature can shield its kind by leaving its attackers with bite, scratch, or sting. An unearned death invites predation, while a worthy one creates trepidation. Background & Lore

Weiwu leads the "Spear of the Spine," one of the Backbone's elite infantry units. Because the Planetary Jingwei have strict prohibitions on the construction of military spaceships, the Unbent have dedicated their vast resources to the development of an army that is, not unlike the Marines, heavily focused on discipline and training. Outside of his aptitude for combat, little is known about Weiwu's past. SAGE believes he may have been bred for the sole purpose of helping fulfill the Backbone's "destiny" as true rulers of the Wayback.

Trivia

His starting perk's name of 'Dare to Die' along with the Chinese theming of the Backbone seems to be a reference to the Dare to Die Corps that the KMT, PRC, and various protest movements have utilized in modern Chinese history.

Behind the Scenes

His/Her voice actor is Jeremy Ang Jones. Mr. Jones is an accomplished theater and film actor, particularly well known for his work in the West End production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, but gamers might be most familiar with him as Hermes/Fandaniel in 'Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker'.
