Marta Carda is a playable infantry Squad Leader of the TCR Marine Corps in the game. She is a member of the Martian Expeditionary Force. Her cute face and bubbly personality may lead one to think she would be better suited as a mascot rather than a front-line grunt, and frankly, her poor starting stats buttress that assessment. However, her growth potential is by far the highest among the starting Marines, and if she survives long enough she can become a sterling soldier indeed.

Background & Lore

Marta Carda joined the TCR Marines in a bid to get away from home and see the galaxy. A bubbly personality belies a strong aptitude for control and command, hence her quick ascent to SL-Status. To those that know her, joining the mission into the Wayback was an unsurprising next step for the adventurous leader.

Trivia

Carda's profile picture depicts her holding a custom M320 SSW. Compared to a typical M320, her M320 sports a paint scheme more similar to the R228A1 MRS and IAR in use by the TCR. Carda's M320 also has an ammunition counter which is not seen on M320s found in the Wayback's Black Market, but is another feature found on the R228 family.

Carda's profile picture may be horizontally flipped: in the game she holds the trigger grip with her right hand, and the magazine on the M320 normally feeds on the weapon's right side.

Carda appears to carry trauma shears in her vest, implying she has medical training. This aligns with her potential perk First Aid.

Although all the other Marine Infantry SLs wear a patch with their respective unit insignias in their portraits, Carda does not appear to wear a Martian Expeditionary Force patch.

The insignia of Carda's unit, the Martian Expeditionary Force, bears the motto "SUMMOM SUMMORUM". This is Latin for "The Highest of the Highest". The imagery in the insignia appears to depict Olympus Mons, a volcano on Mars which is the tallest mountain in the Solar System.

Behind the Scenes

Her voice actress is Norah Lopez Holden. Ms. Holden is most well known for her role in the production of Shakespeare's Globe Theater's "The Winter's Tale" in 2018, but also had side roles in Hellblade II: Senua's Sacrifice and in Hitman 2 as Alma Reynard.
