Talk:Woodland challenges: Difference between revisions
From He is Coming Official Wiki
Wrote the strategy for Battle Medic, having just achieved this myself on my fresh run. |
Wrote the Final Strike advice after a particularly awesome shopping trip. I also lucked into a Golden Double-plated Armor. |

| Goal | How?? |
|---|---|
| Bloodmoon Werewolf | Keep health high: Saffron Feather is easy to find, as is the weapon to regain speed, Featherweight Blade. |
| Black Knight | Start weak: The common Iceblock Shield cuts your attack in half for two turns (long enough to nerf the knight). |
| Ironstone Golem | Crack it fast: Aim for an early Hero's Return set for all-around good stats that outrace 4 damage / turn. |
| Razortusk Hog | Outrun or outlast: Four speed's challenging but manageable. Frostbite Gauntlet will cut the initial damage by half. |
| Brittlebark Beast | Whittle down: Hunt down an anvil for Cutting Edge or Jagged Edge, or any other source of triggered damage. |
| Razorclaw Grizzly | Drawback into advantage: You'll have armor throughout, so Ironstone items are always-on. If your first item is Woodcutter's Axe, use the Esc menu to Fight Boss immediately. |
| Goldwing Monarch | Better poor than dead: If you must, re-roll the merchant to throw money away. |
| Swiftstrike Stag | Punish him: Thorns clear only after the enemy's turn is done, so every thorn point strikes three times! |
| Mountain Troll | Half the turns is twice as dead: Freezing Edge and Frostbite Trap make the troll's few turns way less effective. |
| Frostbite Druid | Cold never bothered me anyway: Again, thorns are the answer, with Ice Spikes being the prime example. |
| Redwood Treant | My bark's worse than your bite: Similar to Grizzly, items with the Stone tag, Ore Heart in particular, keep you safe. |
| Blackbriar King | What not to bring: Use health or armor regeneration, not thorns, no items that say "enemy strikes". |
| Leshen (1st) | In general: A strong first turn, consisting of extra strikes, or the combination of Blackbriar Gauntlet + Blade. |
| Leshen (wood) | Luck needed: One of the itemsets, be it Brittlebark Blessing, Redwood Crown, or Elderwood Mask. If not a set, one of the Heroic Weapons. Use Golems to get Golden Redwood Cloak and Helmet. Attack Oil, any Edge that does damage (Jagged). Oak Heart is a must. Just avoid non-wood entirely as you won't have time to use replacement mechanics. |
| Leshen (stone) | Slightly easier: Ironstone equipment is Most Valuable Player, but remember "Unique" means one per run. Ore Heart's great, obviously. All Edges are good except Featherweight, because you won't have speed. Stone's weapons are all winners. |
| Leshen (stick) | Just enjoy the game until you're practiced: While a good weapon helps — and the stick isn't good — the real power is in overpowered item combos. [Refer to "first kill" strategies.) |
| Leshen (hurtless) | Avoid bears unless you're fast: Reset until you get a good start, which might be Hog or Knight. Prioritize armor stat, freeze effects, Hero's Return, Ironstone equipment, merchant. Fight Wolves (their bonus means nothing on this run). This is the second-hardest Woodland Challenge, so don't get discouraged. |
| Woodland Abomination | Honestly hard: If you're only averaging 10 or 11 damage per turn, Abomination will deal 45 in the same time. If you have an average of 12, he'll deal 36. If you can only receive 15 damage total, you'll need an extreme average of 17 damage per turn. If they are frozen for the whole fight, your average of 12 per turn will need 17 hitpoints to survive. With only the two Ironstone protectors, 16 hitpoints are sufficient with a 12 point attack rating. Combining Frostbite Greaves with Saffron Talon (itemset) requires you to supply 8 additional base attack from 6 items, Oil, and Edge. Prioritize Ruby Jewelry, or triggered damage sources such as Blackbriar equipment, Assault Greaves, Studded Gauntlet, or Sword Talisman. |
| Bombastic | Double exposure: The instructions seem open-ended. "Exposed" can be yours or the enemy's, and "at the same time" can be "battle start", as was demonstrated by Golden Cherry Bomb, Double Explosion, Iron Shrapnel, and Kindling Bomb, versus the Mountain Troll. |
| So I Started Blasting | Do not tap glass: Bring a Golden Cherry Bomb against Brittlebark Beast and get this without trying. |
| Battle Medic | Ship-shape: Form a run around either of the Heart-Shaped items (Potion or Acorn). Iron Transfusion is most helpful, though Jagged Edge, Lifeblood Armor, or Bloodmoon Sickle may have to do. The Potion pairs well with Granite Crown. |
| Final Strike | Damage spike: Go shopping for Blackbriar items. Throw down a pair of Gauntlets and take up the Blade. On the way, have the Golem put his talent towards Horned Helmet and Spiny Chestnut. |
