Whilst the 2 leafcutter ant colonies vie for dominance, 2 new colonies have arrived on the scene. Take command of the devastating exploding ants as you eradicate a fire ant colony from their native home.

Objectives

  • Eliminate the fire ant colony.

Settings

Your exploding ant colony must defeat the fire ant colony before it grows too large.

The mission starts during the day.

The forest floor is covered with harvestable plants. You can also find pine cones and dead creatures across the map.

Non-player colony

The enemy leafcutter ant colonies and the enemy fire ant colony are hostile to each other.

Leafcutter ant colony (blue)

The blue leafcutter ant colony doesn't cheat. It only gathers leaves around its nest. It doesn't invade your nest.

It only has minors.

Leafcutter ant colony (yellow)

The yellow leafcutter ant colony can occasionally spawn ants without requiring food. It mostly gathers leaves to the north and to the west of its nest. It doesn't invade your nest.

It only has access to stun majors.

Fire ant colony

The fire ant colony doesn't cheat. It mostly gathers food to the south and to the west of its nest.

It only has access to vigorous soldiers.

The fire ant colony chooses the weakest enemy colony to attack after it has amassed enough number. It either follows the most recently placed pheromone markers or invade the chosen nest.

Notable enemies

Other enemies are on the same side and are hostile to the ants.

Woodworms, green rove beetles and velvet worms live in your nest.

Surface enemies occasionally fight among themselves and don't invade your nest.

Rove beetles, harvestmen, juvenile velvet worms, spiny devil bush crickets and level 1 trap-jaw ant soldiers roam the forest floor all day.

Jumping spiders and leaf-mimic praying mantises only appear on the surface during the day.

Adult velvet worms and whip spiders only appear on the surface at night.

Trivia

  • The developers reuse the maps of The Harvest for this mission. The enemy colonies use custom-game-mode behaviors.
