Cuztomizations

Randomization

Maps have default designs for the surface and the underground area. Surface and underground enemies are approriate to the environment by default.

Every colony is randomly assigned to an underground area and a surface nest location at the start of a custom game.

Landmarks will be generated based on your choices if randomization is enabled.

Caverns and underground enemies will be randomly generated based on your choices if randomization is enabled. Food amount and danger amount can be toggled in a preset range but food amount must always be higher than danger amount.

Leaves, lignocellulose and dead termites replace other underground food when you play as leafcutter ants, termites and Matabele ants respectively. Edible enemies and food from underground caverns don't disappear over time.

Flood

Short flood is exclusive to Towhead and Embankment. Water rises every 10 minutes and lasts for 5 seconds.

Long flood is exclusive to Imprisoned. Water rises or recedes every 7 minutes.

Rising water washes away any creatures and unharvested food, including the amphibians.

Overall score increases by 40% if floods are enabled.

Destructible barriers

Destructible barriers are exclusive to Basin. They have 4000 HP and block certain areas of the map. You can attack the barriers to break them.

Overall score increases by 40% if destructible barriers are enabled.

Alternative nest locations

Colonies can be assigned to another set of surface nest locations in Strawclucth.

Colonies must be assigned to either ant nests or termite mounds respectively if this option is disabled in Grasslands and Drive Them Back Custom.

Period of the day

Day and night last for 15 minutes each. You can choose to start a freeplay game during any period of the day.

Trivia

  • Imprisoned, based on the design of 鶴轟, and Strawclutch, based on the design of Noctazar, were the winners of the map making contest in 2023.
  • The old fish model can be seen floating on the edge of Towhead.
