Another rainforest dweller has made its home here, the exploding termites. Can they survive several nights of assaults from the army ants? The horde is coming for them.

Objectives

  • Survive 4 days.

Settings

Your exploding termite colony must defend itself from an advancing swarm of army ants. Your nest is located to the east of the army ant swarm. Nest entrance has already been excavated.

The mission starts at night.

The forest floor is covered with lignocellulose and harvestable plants.

You start with 7 ignocellulose storage tiles.

Non-player colony

The enemy leafcutter ant colony can occasionally spawn ants without requiring food. It gathers leaves around its nest and doesn't invade your nest. It follows your most recently placed pheromone markers at night to disrupt your harvest.

It only has access to taunt majors.

Notable enemies

Other enemies are on the same side and are hostile to the ants and the termites.

Blue rove beetles, baby whip spiders and juvenile velvet worms live in your nest.

Surface enemies occasionally fight among themselves and don't invade your nest.

Rove beetles, harvestmen, juvenile velvet worms, spiny devil bush crickets and level 1 trap-jaw ant soldiers roam the forest floor all day.

Jumping spiders and leaf-mimic praying mantises only appear on the surface during the day.

Adult velvet worms and whip spiders only appear on the surface at night.

Titan

The size-level 1/ 1/ 1/ 2/ 3 adult whip spider hides under some roots during the day and only comes out at night, from the fourth/ fourth/ fourth/ third/ first night onward. It gradually moves toward your nest after each night.

Army ant

Army ants only appear during the day. The progress bar appears on the screen along with them to indicate their movement. Army ants move along the vertical lanes and gather any food on the way. Majors take the lead and stand guard at the intersections.

The progress bar extends quickly to the right over time, regardless of the number of army ants on the map. It retracts a little at night.

Army ants move eastward each time the progress bar goes above a threshold and eventually invade your nest at the end.

Trivia

  • The developers reuse the maps of Front Line for this mission. The enemy leafcutter ant colony uses custom-game-mode behaviors.
