Skills are a measure of well Clanfolk can do Jobs and Tasks.

The button on the Main Toolbar brings up a window showing a table with all the (non-Baby) Clanfolk in the player Clan, and all employed Workers. The left column of the table is an icon listing of all 16 in game Skills, ordered as shown below. The neighbouring column has a few buttons to rearrange Clanfolk priorities for the Skills. Every following column has one Clanfellow at the top and their personal arrangement of the 16 Skills.

Each Clanfellow will have one disliked Skill, with up to three red frowning faces by the Skill icon. Similarly a Liked Skill will have up to three smiling faces. When the Clanfellow does tasks or Jobs using those particular Skills they will lose or gain Mood respectively.
A proficiency also exists for each Clanfellow, with one Skill being easier to gain levels etc. (That may be the same as the Liked skill.)

Organising the Skills of all Clanfolk can be useful to ensure that different Jobs/Tasks are done in a timely fashion. (e.g. Without one Clanfolk prioritising Cooking there may not be enough cooked food in the Colony.) Clicking a Skill icon at the left highlights all instances of that Skill under each Clanfellow. Dragging icons up/down a column can rearrange them, hotkeys also exist to shunt a Skill to the top or bottom of a column as well as just move them a single space.

  • T - move up one space
  • Y - move to top of column
  • G - disallow
  • B - move down one space
  • N - move to bottom of column

Early Priorities

  • Gathering will help ensure that Food and building requirements are available for other Jobs/Tasks.
  • Harvest will provide the colony with Straw which is used constantly. As well as vegetables for food.
  • Building is required to construct the shelter (roofs, walls, door), and all the Objects for processing Items.
  • Crafting is required to make Tools as well as use most non-food and non-clothing related Objects.
  • Cooking (and likely Hunting) is essential for Food production.

Specialising in the previous Skills will allow different Clanfolk to build up more experience in those Skills, leading to the Jobs being completed quicker. It also reduces infrastructure needs, e.g. if multiple Clanfolk try to cook at the same time more than one coking place would be required.
Hauling may also be useful as a Clanfellow needing Branches for a Fire will only collect the amount they need, wandering off to distant trees and only bringing back a few branches is less efficient than a dedicated Hauler bring back all they can carry. This does require the use of Stockpiles and/or Storage Objects.
