The Ore Smelter is an early Construction building that turns Iron Ore into Iron and Copper Ore into Copper. The Ore Smelter produces Medium levels of pollution.
Production
The Ore Smelter requires Power to produce the important construction and intermediate resource Iron from Iron Ore. Shortly after the settlement starts producing Iron, Copper Ore also becomes available for mining, and existing Ore Smelters can start producing Copper immediately once a Mine starts providing the ore.
The Iron is essential for constructing other buildings and making Tools, and Copper is essential for Power Lines and Electronics for more advanced buildings.
Provided with a steady supply of ore, the production speed of the Ore Smelter is generally sufficient to keep up with the primary consumers of Iron, the Toolsmith and Metal Smelter.

Technology tree
The Ore Smelter is unlocked after the Mine produces some initial Iron Ore.
After producing Iron, the Ore Smelter helps unlock the Metal Smelter.
Strategy
The Ore Smelter sits well next to a Burner Generator touching on one edge so the generator still has plenty of empty space around it. Its size and shape lets it sit within initial patches of three or four Forests that can keep its Pollution under control.
