The Manorial Court

The Manorial Court is a unique building blueprint unlocked as Bats Bats' Starting Ability. Using the Manorial Court allows you to selectively force Villagers of chosen species to leave, granting a permanent bonus to chance for bonus production.

Using the Manorial Court

First, build the Manorial Court from the City Buildings menu. It costs 4 Planks Planks and 1 Parts Parts by default.

Select the species you want to exile and click and hold the portrait to exile 1 random member of that species.

Diligence

Each Villager exiled using the Manorial Court permanently increases the chance for bonus production by 4% globally.

Strategy

  • The key synergy of Bats Bats and their Manorial Court is the ability to raise their Dedication level on demand. Since Bats gain +1 resolve for every 2 non-Bat villagers that leave or die, using the Manorial Court allows you to sacrifice non-Bat workers to boost Bats' resolve to farm for Reputation.
    • The Manorial Court can be used to prevent the Dedication level from falling due to Bats low base resolve during the Storm. Exiling non-Bat villagers will allow you to simultaneously increase Bat resolve while reducing Hostility by increasing the Queen's Impatience.
    • Using the Manorial Court to exile Bats is not recommended under most circumstances, as doing so will drop their Dedication level.
  • Using the Manorial Court on Prestige 20 difficulty has mixed results.
    • You can no longer freely exile villagers en masse since the Impatience penalty is significantly increased.
    • However, since the Impatience penalty is much larger, you don't have to sacrifice as many villagers to reduce Hostility to a manageable level, allowing you to keep more workers for productivity.
  • Be careful when time-sensitive work is happening in your settlement. Since the exiled individual is chosen randomly from all members of the exiled species, you could inadvertently interrupt progress on solving a devastating Glade Event or production of important goods in a production building.
    • In these scenarios, it's best to wait until the time-sensitive work is finished to exile, or exile a species that you know is not currently performing time-sensitive work.
  • Since the Manorial Court works by forcing villagers to leave rather than killing them, it cannot be used for the benefit of the following World Events:
    • The World Event Hanged Viceroy has an option that requires you to win without any villagers leaving your settlement. This makes the Manorial Court useless, as using it would instantly fail the challenge.
    • World Event Followers of the Forsaken Gods' 2nd option does not benefit from the Manorial Court, as villagers are exiled, not executed, so they do not count as deaths.
