Food is any substance normally eaten or drunk by living things. The term food also includes liquid drinks. Food is the main source of energy and of nutrition for animals, and is usually of animal or plant origin. There are 4 (four) basic food energy sources: fats, proteins, carbohydrates and alcohol.

Food is an important resources for the happiness of the citizens. The player has to provide [[crops]] to a [[food factory]], in the food factory are workers turning the crops over into food. Citizens who are unable to acquire food may have [[Citizens#Health|health]] and [[Citizens#Happiness|happiness]] penalties, as food is considered one of the [[Citizens#Food and shopping|shopping needs]] of a citizen.
