The campfire is the first heating building you will use and requires no research.
Bonfires use wood which can be harvest or farmed, this building will not be stocked by your workers and has a time bar along the time till it goes out. If you wish to make them last longer clicking the fire will add more wood manually.
It's primary (red) heat radius extends 2-3 tiles in every direction and an additional 2 tiles providing moderate warmth (yellow). Using this longer term will cause a lot of Pollution and cost a lot of logs to heat a sizeable city. It is not advised to use this basic heating source if you have other options. Bonfire is the next step up in heating.
