The Tea Roaster is used to create tea and fine tea from tea leaves you harvest on a farm.

This building is obtained in the later game and finally lets you supply your Whiskers with tea that isn't provided by The Claw. It is, however, a very expensive process.

Tea leaves must be grown on farms utilizing fertilizer. No area on the map is naturally suited to growing tea without it, even for a short while. This requires you to already have an established fertilizer supply chain involving mining potash and producing it at a Sifting Tower. It is recommended to start growing tea before building the Tea Roaster so Whiskers aren't idle waiting for the first crop.

The Tea Roaster itself is an odd building, requiring additional engineering to get your Whiskers to it's third floor entrance. A simple elevator setup can be used in a pinch. As the building uses fuel, it should also be located away from and downwind from your colony to keep the associated pollution away from a majority of your Whiskers.

The Tea Roaster has two recipes to create both tea and fine tea. Regular tea is produced at a rate of 1 tea leaf and 1 fuel to produce 5 tea. The fine tea requires 2 tea leaves, 1 spice, and 1 fuel to produce 8 fine tea. The fine tea recipe is a very late game recipe requiring growing and processing spice.

For the best processing times, you will need to find a Farming Guild Scholar to occupy the second work slot which may result in sending a Whisker to school, as that combination is a rare find on a Whisker ship.

Production times can be further improved by using the building catalyst of fire tongs. These are produced at the Coppersmith using bronze bars. Given the cost and that multiple buildings use fire tongs, the choice to use that catalyst in this building is a tough one.

Tea produced at this building will be distributed to Cafes and Dining Halls for consumption. Tea improves positive thoughts for each Whisker that drinks it but does not provide stat buffs like other food.
