The Spice Grinder is used to process peppers into spices at a rate of 1 pepper to 3 spice.

This building is required if you want to be able to provide your Whiskers with the highest quality food and tea. All 4-star quality food items require spice in their recipes

The Spice Grinder is less generous in its conversion ratio than with other crop processing facilities. For example, the Mill converts wheat to flour at a rate of 1:5. You should incorporate this into your spice supply chain management to be sure youre producing enough for your food recipes.

The size of the Spice Grinder is space efficient and mimics the tall but narrow format of the oil press which also happens to be the catalyst for this building. Oil is relatively cheap and easy to produce, so it is recommended to use as a catalyst at the spice grinder.

As with many late game buildings, you will not be able to employ base level Whiskers at this building. Both workers need to be at least an apprentice.

Do note that the Spice Grinder is researched after obtaining the ability to plant peppers. Late tier research is the most costly both in time and materials. You may want to wait to plant the prerequisite peppers until you have a way to process them.
