Cotton is a crop that can be cultivated.
Overview
Cotton is a crop that can be grown in your colony. Like all crops, it requires proper soil conditions, adequate lighting, and protection from harsh environmental factors to thrive.
Cotton is a tax crop that sells for 21 coins per unit. This is equivalent to Iron Ore, but is a renewable source of income. Cotton can only converted into thread at the favorable rate of 1 Cotton to 8 Threads at the Cotton Gin. This is a late game technology, so early grown Cotton should be sold.
Cotton will require micromanagement to grow effectively before fertilizer is researched and available. It rapidly depletes soil nutrients so periods of setting the fields to fallow are required.
Cotton is not picky about where it is grown and is good to grow on soil that is suboptimal to other essential crops.
