== Settings ==
The settings of [[TI Multiplayer]] are in the Unity Mod Manager window ('''Ctrl + F10''' in the game). They are stored in <code>Mods\Enabled\TIMultiplayer\Settings.xml</code>.

{| class="wikitable"
! Setting !! Default !! Effect
|-
| '''Player Name''' || Player || The name other players see. Set it before your first session.
|-
| '''Default Host IP''' / '''Default Port''' || 127.0.0.1 / 7777 || Pre-filled values for Direct Connect.
|-
| '''Use Steam Lobbies (when available)''' || on || ''Currently has no effect.''
|-
| '''Verbose debug logging''' || on || Off = only warnings and errors are written to the log.
|-
| '''Transport''' || Auto (SDR preferred) || ''Auto'' uses the Steam relay and falls back to Direct UDP. ''Steam Datagram Relay only'' or ''Direct UDP only'' force one of them.
|-
| '''Notify on Steam when next turn is ready''' || on || Steam Rich Presence shows ''Sandbox - Turn N ready''.
|-
| '''Auto-download save on reconnect''' || on || Only used after a host migration: a player whose copy is out of date downloads the current one.
|-
| '''Combat autosave''' (host) || on || Writes the ''Combat autosave'' slot before battles with players.
|-
| '''Min log level''' and '''Verbose categories''' || Info / all off || More detailed logs for bug reports (Network, State sync, Save, Turn barrier, Harmony patches, UI, Steam API, Test mode, Lobby).
|-
| '''Local Test Mode''' || off || For developers: runs several game instances on one PC. Leave it off.

== Log files ==
When something goes wrong, the log is the most important information for a bug report:
* <code>%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Pavonis Interactive\TerraInvicta\Player.log</code> - the game log. The mod's lines start with <code>[TIMultiplayer]</code>.
* Attach the logs of '''everyone involved''', and say which game version you play.
* Report bugs in the ''MOD BUG Multiplayer EA'' thread on the [https://discord.gg/HscsDuy Pavonis Interactive Discord].

== First steps when something is wrong ==
Most problems are fixed by a '''rejoin''' or a full '''restart''' of the game (host and the affected player):
# Make sure every player has the same mod version and the same game version.
# Let the affected player leave and rejoin.
# If that does not help, quit Terra Invicta completely and start it again.
# If a connection cannot be made at all, check firewall and router, and make sure Steam is running and online.
# If a player stays out of sync, the host can load the last autosave of the session.

== Common messages ==
{| class="wikitable"
! Message !! Meaning / what to do
|-
| ''Mod version mismatch. Host: a, You: b'' || Update the mod (Steam Workshop) so that everybody has the same version.
|-
| ''Terra Invicta version mismatch…'' || All players need the same game build. 1.0.53a and 1.0.53b are different builds.
|-
| ''Your loaded mods do not match the host's.'' || The message lists the mods that are missing or extra. Install the same multiplayer-aware mods in the same versions.
|-
| ''This campaign requires content you don't have: …'' || The scenario needs a DLC you do not own.
|-
| ''Your multiplayer mod build is too old for this host.'' || Update the mod on the Steam Workshop and rejoin.
|-
| ''Untested Game Version'' || Your game version is newer than the versions the mod was tested with. It may work. If it misbehaves, report it with your log.
|-
| ''Template Data Incomplete'' || Game files or the mod folder contain old or duplicate files. Verify the game files in Steam and remove leftovers from <code>Mods/Enabled</code>.
|-
| ''That fleet is not synchronised with the host yet - the order was not issued.'' || Wait a moment and give the order again.
|-
| ''Army details are not available right now…'' || The host's latest update is still arriving. Try again in a moment.
|-
| ''Could not apply the host's update…'' / ''Still out of sync - requesting a full update…'' || The mod repairs this by itself.
|-
| ''Multiplayer - Sync Failed'' || Your game can no longer follow the host. Quit Terra Invicta completely, restart it, rejoin, and send your Player.log.
|-
| ''Connection is falling behind the host…'' || Your connection is slow. Battles and decisions arrive late until it catches up.
|-
| ''Failed to bind port 7777'' (log) || Another program or game instance uses the port. Choose another port.
|}

== Connection problems ==
* '''The lobby is not in the list:''' the host uses a different mod build, or Steam is not running.
* '''Direct UDP does not connect:''' the host must allow incoming UDP on the port (default 7777), or use the Steam relay instead. An unreachable host gives no error - the attempt simply times out after about 45 seconds.
* '''"Start as Host" in Direct Connect, but IP players cannot connect:''' with ''Transport: Auto'' and Steam running, the host still uses the Steam relay. Set '''Transport''' to ''Direct UDP only''.

== Linux / Proton ==
If Terra Invicta keeps closing right after start ("Closing Terra Invicta") after a Workshop update, quit the game, delete the mod's folder in <code>Mods/Enabled</code>, and start the game twice. The mod prevents this from happening again.
