Overview
Water is a critical resource in Sandustry, used for wetting Sand and Spores. Large volumes of water are required for an efficient factory, so players must sufficiently plan to obtain sustainable sources.
Water flow is blocked by Block and Conveyor Belt. Water can pass through all other building blocks, most notably Filters.
Sources of Water
- Rain resulting from Steam
- Melting Snow and Ice. This can create infinite water when using the Cryoblaster to make snow.
- Pumping of underground water deposits
- Water duplication
Duplicating
There is no known way to dupe water automatically. Currently, duping water involves it converting to Steam and back, which involves Fire. Fire can only be produced by the Flamethrower and the Rocket Launcher. Do not use the Flamethrower as it does not duplicate water. The rocket launcher is more effective but it requires a nearby Bedrock wall to explode against. Exploding the rocket launcher underwater will not produce fire.
Evaporation
Water will pool in a depression and spread out until it forms a flat surface. Any remaining droplets will skitter back and forth on the surface of the water. If a water droplet does not encounter a depression to settle into within 45 seconds, it will evaporate (disappear). Therefore all water will eventually settle into pools with flat surfaces as any extra will evaporate.
Mechanics
When a Sand pixel and Water pixel touch they are both replaced with Wet Sand (1 Sand + 1 Water = 2 Wet Sand).
When a Spore pixel and Water pixel touch the Water gets absorbed to become a Wet Spore (1 Spore + 1 Water = 1 Wet Spore).
