Overview

The Block is the most simple building material in Sandustry and prevents anything from passing through it.

Mechanics

Gold sliding down Blocks placed as stairs.

Blocks can be placed as squares by default, but if dragged diagonally when placing they will transform into stair shapes. Solid pixels that land on stairs will flow down them even without other pixels pushing them. Holding shift (by default) while placing stairs will flip them.

Tips

Water slipping through a corner that hasn't been blocked.

While liquids cannot flow directly through Blocks, they can slip through where two corners of Blocks meet if there is not another entity blocking it.
