Overview

The Thermal Buffer stores heat, and transfers that heat to buildings which consume it.

Building such as the Pyro Dispenser, the Burner Belt and the Smelter consume heat to operate.

Mechanics

Thermal Buffers will absorb heat energy from both Fire and Lava.

When in direct contact with Lava, a large amount of heat is transferred to the buffer, and the Lava is consumed.

Indirect heating through Fire transfers significantly less heat, but does not consume the source of that fire.

Tips

Fire can come from the Flamethrower and the Pyro Dispenser. It also rises as occasional sparks from pools of Lava, and is given off whenever burnable items (such as Residue or Vines) are burned.
