Overview

Shakers are the first way to obtain Gold which it does by turning Wet Sand that is placed on top into Residue with a 25% chance to also extract a single Gold. Gold is passed through the Shaker and dropped out the bottom while the Residue remains on top and is very slowly pushed of the top akin to a Conveyor Belt.

Mechanics

Each Wet Sand will always turn into a Residue but only has a 1/4 chance to also drop a Gold. The only solid pixel that can pass through the Shaker is Gold, everything else will remain on top until pushed off the side.

Tips

Given that Shakers are extremely slow at pushing the Residue along, it is best to place them in a downwards diagonal from where you are supplying Wet Sand. Because Wet Sand has a higher density that Residue, as you input more of it, it will flow down the diagonal 'staircase' of Shakers and settle on the top of each Shaker in a thin layer. This will raise the Residue to the top which will then flow down further to your output. If you mdrag non-gold into the body of the shaker, it will become entrapped within until you manually remove it.
