Electro-optical seekers are cameras with advanced image processing algorithms, allowing them to pick out targets with great accuracy. These seekers are nearly impossible to decoy, and unlike radar based seekers they are able to identify specific ships if fired at a target with enough intelligence.

EO seekers fired on a track works with the intel system to seek certain ship classes. When EO-seeking missiles are fired at a track, the information about that track is coded into the missile so that it knows what silhouette to look for. The more intel you have, the more specific the missile will be, but EO will not seek out a specific ship by name. So unlike the CMD seeker, EO cannot guarantee to strike the track that was fired at, but EO will still work if the track is lost en route. In addition, unlike validators, this discrimination does not overwrite lock target TTGI.

EO will not discriminate targets if fired on position.

As a validator, if EO is given a specific class, it will only validate ships of that class, similar to its behavior as a seeker.

For more info on intelligence mechanics, click here.

Level 0: If you fire at an unknown track, EO will simply seek to any ship it sees.

Level 1: If the track has an identified category, like FRIGATE, then EO will prioritize frigates in view.

Level 2: If the track has an identified class, like RAINES, then EO will prioritize all Raines-class ships in view.

The EO seeker is 250x more likely to choose a target that matches the proper intel. See Target Selection.
