In Game Description

Damage Control lockers provide a warship with teams capable of repairing ship components and restoring destroyed modules or compartments back into working order.

Each locker allows a certain number of restorations for destroyed modules or components, but destruction of a DC locker will completely remove all available restorations.[1]

Gameplay usage

Compared to other DC, Smalls are the second most-fragile and provide the second cheapest repair/sec/point next to Rapid DC, provide the cheapest restores-per-point on ANS (barely cheaper than Large, and losing to Storage on OSPN), and are the only option with restores that can fit on the Ferryman hull (without removing the CIC) or Sprinter's two small compartments, coming mostly at the expense of capability-per-slot where all but Rapid are tougher, Large/Storage DC stores more Restores, Large and Complex have more repair/sec, and Reinforced is significantly tougher although tied otherwise per-slot. They are typically best at providing cheap DC/Restores to ANS backline and frugally-fit ships, where they are cheaper than a large DC locker for-capability and can be dispersed throughout a ship more thinly, and often the only option for restores on certain small ships.

Lore

These are more like actual lockers filled with generic parts and tools for damage controlment to run by and resupply. For the most part, they're full of atmospheric plates to seal up hull breaches and shoring to keep the hull from caving in on itself. All lockers come with spare oxygen kits and FPE, but don't expect these to be enough to repair heavy battle damage.
