In Game Description
A radar transmitter that deploys a high-power cone in a direction for the purpose of guiding semi-active missiles. A side-effect of this is the boosting of the target's radar signature, making the target easier to see.
The Floodlight deploys a wider but shorter beam.

Lore
Just point and shoot, says the manual. Not much to report on the E55 or E57, they're your typical naval illuminators, except these don't provide lock-on capability, that's a job left for the RF101.
I heard these had problems back on Shelter, something about liquefying birds that get too close to the emitter. Don't think I would want to see that, to tell you the truth.
