Resources are the materials with which you will build your kingdom. They are essential for nearly all gameplay activities - constructing buildings, hiring troops & heroes, unlocking & upgrading spells, and more. While you will start each game with a good amount of resources already in your treasury (depending on difficulty level) you will need to gather more to build and sustain your armies.

You find find resources in a number of different ways:

• As resource piles on the Adventure Map.
• Generated daily from captured mines, certain buildings constructed in your cities, and through certain artefacts & hero specializations.
• & As a reward for visiting certain structures on the map.

Resources By Category

Resources
Gold	Gold is the most common resource in the game. It is generated daily from your cities (among other sources) and is used for just about any action in the game involving a transaction. You will use gold to recruit & upgrade troops, hire heroes, build structures in your cities, & purchase artefacts from merchants in town through a specific building.
Wood & Ore	Wood & Ore are uncommon resources in the game. They are primarily needed as supplemental materials used in building most structures in your cities. A good majority of your games will have a wood mill and an ore pit somewhere close by to your cities, as they are fairly crucial to your early development.
Gems, Crystals, & Mercury	Gems, Crystals & Mercury are rare resources. They are normally used for more advanced structures in your cities, certain creature dwellings, and the development of your mage guilds. Additionally, each faction will utilize one of these 3 rare resources to a large degree in the construction of tier 7 creature dwellings, and will have a dedicated structure in town that can be built to generate that resource daily. Each faction will also have a specific hero whose specialization is generating more of that resource each day as well.
Alchemical Dust	Alchemical Dust is a new resource to the Heroes franchise, and is found even more infrequently than Gems, Crystals, & Mercury. It is used mostly for building upgraded creature dwellings in town, leveling up spells in a mage guild, and improving the level of artefacts in a hero's inventory, increasing their power and effectiveness.
