There are four mission types in the campaign:
- Tutorial missions teach how to play the game.
- City building missions use resources, building, prosperity and day-night cycle mechanics. Your objective is to survive all the nights. Iris is playable and if she dies she can be resurrected at the citadel.
- Expedition missions give you a limited number of units to complete the objectives. Pieces are available in limited numbers based on caches salvaged on the map. Iris is playable and if she dies the mission fails.
- Tower defense missions have a limited number of units and pieces are available in a limited number given at the beginning of the mission. The objective is to kill all horrors before they reach and destroy the stronghold on the opposite end of the map and there is also an optional objective to kill all horrors before they reach and destroy the ancient beacon in the middle of the map. Night can only be triggered manually. Iris is not playable.
