When a new game is started only the King of Nothing will be available. Other kings can be unlocked by reaching various milestones while playing. Progress towards unlocking each king carries over between runs. Each king has 9 cards, 9 perks, its own royal decrees. The choice of king also affects the color of the UI, the background music and the visual appearance of the map.
