Selecting perks for the King of Nothing
Each king has a level. At the end of each run it will gain experience based on the number of years played, regardless of whether the run was successful or not. After a king gains enough experience it will level up, which unlocks a perk that can be assigned to one of the king's 9 perk slots. Perks are permanent bonuses that apply to every run. They can be reset at any time between runs.
There are 3 types of perks:
Universal perks, available to all kings.
King perks, available only to the chosen king.
Rainbow perks, available to all kings and unlocked every third level.
A new perk unlocks every time a king levels up, alternating between Universal and King perks with every level up. Additionally, every third level threshold reached for the first time (level 3, level 6, level 9, etc.) unlocks a Rainbow perk.
Before starting a run, up to 9 perks can be activated by placing them in slots from the pool of unlocked perks, with the option to unlock additional slots by assigning the Rainbow perk Expander.
