In quest mode, the player explores the continent of 9 Lands. Starting as the Kingdom of Nothing, the player can unlock a total of 81 unique challenges, 9 for each of the 9 kings. The player reveals new areas of 9 Lands and unlocks new challenges by successfully completing challenges. Quest mode is unlocked after beating any single player run at any difficulty.
Quest mode has three difficulty levels:
- Knight: a casual difficulty for exploration and experimentation.
- King: the intended quest mode difficulty.
- Chaos: extremely strong enemies for kings who like a challenge.
